Just Getting Started

I just got my coop and run built today and plan on getting some chickens next weekend. What is a good breed to start out with? My coop is 4X4 with an 8X8 run. How many chickens will comfortably fit in this space?

Go with any breeds you have an interest in. I would get several different ones, for variety. And then you get a taste of what the different ones are like. For a coop that size I probably wouldn't put more than 4 birds in it. mypetchicken.com has nice brief descriptions of most of the breeds you will find. Have fun!
