Northern Colorado
Hello from Northern Colorado. We've decided to jump into backyard chicken"ing".

We have to get a permit and we need approval from one of our neighbors. Still working on this. Then we can get our chicks. We have the coop already. Nothing like putting the cart before the chickens, so to speak.

Anyway, we're getting 3 chicks (roosters aren't permitted), which is fine. I'm a city girl and have never been around chickens, so we did some research and decided on a Buff Orpington and two Barred Rock.

Hopefully all goes well. Is there anyone out there that is also from Northern Colorado? We surely would love to connect.

Hi, I am also new to raising chicks. My husband and I bought our first chicks yesterday. We got two Buff Orpingtons, two Barred Rocks and two Rhode Island Reds. We bought a large storage bin to keep them in, but they were already 5 and 7 weeks old when we bought them, so we have been up all night building the coop to keep them in as they were already to big for the bucket. We put them in the coop this morning, but it seems pretty cold. It's 44 degrees. Is this to cold to leave them outside. It is supposed to warm up to mid 60s today.
