Hey everyone so I finally convinced my dad to get some milk goats. The first time I saw the Alpines at the state fair I fell in love with them. They are so pretty and some of them look like deer. I have had goats my whole life but this is our first experience with milk goats. So if anyone could plz share their experience or info that whould be great. I am also entered in ADGA and a local show goat group. My first show is in April so if anyone has any experience they want to share please do. Oh we bought them registerd so I didn't get to name them so their names are Bella Dontel and King Solomon but I call him Chicken nugget.
Pics in comments.

The top and bottom one is the doe the middle one is the buck

Nice. I like.

Got a stand for milking and grooming? It makes everything better, I assure you.

I assume you're planning on milking them?

If so, you should isolate them from the buck when they're milking. When people tell you that the scent of the buck can contaminate the milk? They're not exaggerating. They'll also need more support and nutrition (think in the range of 16% feed and good alfalfa hay or quality pasture) for a large milk output.

EDT: Good luck on showing. My parents raised commercial meat mutts, so I don't know much about dairy goats, but those look really good to me.

Thanks, yes we are planning on milking and we do have them separated.

You may have already done this, but if you haven't go to caprinesupply.com and send for their catalog. Not only do they offer everything you would need in the way of goat supplies, their catalog is full of good information. Also be sure your goats are up to date on their CD/T vaccinations.
