Just hatched duckling...help/advice please

I have a duckling that has just hatched but it appears as if it has not absorbed all the yolk yet. There is an extremely small amount sticking out of its navel and a small amount of blood. This duckling was in no way assisted in hatching. I have not moved it from the incubator yet as I am unsure what to do. It is active and peeping and looks like it wants to get out of the incubator and join its siblings. Has this happened to anyone before or can anyone offer some advice as to what I should do, or if I should be worried? Thanks!!!

Can you send a pic? If it is yolk and I would question that, reason why, sometimes there navel is swelled up that it looks as though they haven't finished. So I'm wondering if it's just a swelled up navel that needs to shrink down.

But you can test him, get a cup, put some paper towels in it, then place him into the cup, If he gets out, it's not yolk, if he just sits there and doesn't even attempt to get out, then it could be yolk still.. keep the shell on him at all time, don't try to pull if off.. but placing him in a cup will help him absorb or get him really mad and that is why he will escape. LOL...

Ok, the duckling passed the cup test! It has already pulled itself out of the egg and the goopy stuff seems to be gone, there is only a small amount of blood on the navel now. Now that hes out of the incubator hes up on his legs and wobbling around like a champion, so im thinking hes ok. Thanks for the advice/help! I had a duckling hatch earlier today whos eyelid got stuck shut. Uuuhrg, one of the more stressful hatch days I've experienced!

Sounds like you may have a little bit of a sticky issue going on, check the humidity and try to keep it a little lower..
