On Sunday we had our first chickens hatch, 6 of them.
On Monday, we had another 5. That only leaves 2 unhatched eggs, since one broke with no sign of a chick.
We lost one chick this morning, which is a very sad thing.
As for pics, I am not trying to advertise our blog, it is the just the easiest way to provide pics since my wife has already made a post about it. All but one is a cross of hatchery EE hen and Barred Rock rooster. One is full BR, but kinda hard to tell which one.

They are currently in the brooder in the kitchen. I can't decide whether I should let the hen raise them, or raise them by hand. Since they are our first batch I would feel bad if anything happened to them. Being a control freak, I think they would do better under my care. I would also be interested in seeing how the hen raise them. I can always hand brood another batch once I get an incubator.
As I said, I am still undecided.
