Just joined, writing an article - entirely self-serving!

Hi all,

I've been wanting to get my backyard coop started ever since I moved from SF to the East Bay last May. In order to kick-start the process, I managed to get myself assigned to write an article for Costco magazine about suburban chicken-farming.

I'm looking forward to getting to know you all and preparing my backyard for a bunch of egg-layers.

my brother always brings over his Costco magazine so I can read it. Do you know when your article will be published? I can tell him I just met the writer. Congratulations - hope it leads to many more "fowl" assignments.

you guys are so great! you want to tell me how you decide what to name your chickens? That is, do you have a theme, do you name them based on some kind of organizational system, or is it totally random?

This should be in the March issue - I'm very psyched about this. I only get to do a couple print magazine articles per year, the rest is all online. It's pretty different - I can't just drop in a link when something needs to be explained! Pretty weird that I've become that reliant on something I couldn't do until relatively recently!
