Just my luck frostbite help please (UPDATE)

My rir rooster yesterday was fine but temps dropped surprisingly low last night. and when I was out there a second ago i Noticed that the a tip of his comb ( he has a large red single comb ) was dark black/purple. so I came to the experts how do you treat frostbite ?

Well he was a good boy and let daddy rub some stuff into his comb. we did not have any Vaseline but we had some stuff that was mostly that.
it was Vaseline,mineral oil and water so I rubbed some of that into his comb and he did not complain much. but he is lucky it happened on a weekend because if my mom or dad had to do it he would have bit their fingers.

If it falls off will the missing part grow back ?

It will not grow back. If it looks infected (puss) then you will need to Dub to keep him from dying from the infection. Clean with antiseptic and then us neosporin (antibiotic cream). Do not ever use any antibiotic cream that numbs pain, as chickens will die. it is toxic to them. Then after a few days you can use bag balm or vasaline to keep the chicken from gettin more frost bite. I put it on all my chicken every 2 days in cold weather. I also put it on wattles.

Despite my trying very hard I have 3 girls with frost bite. We have had some nites of -22 !

well I decided to go and plug in the brooder light (tonight is the first time i have done it) and you should have seen the scoot over act they pulled.

my br hen on the end kept pecking and pushing my BSL hen and they would all move down again and again lol. so funny.

Well he seems to be doing better now that they have the light, but it also does not help that we got 5 inches of snow. he seems to be doing better and when he will behave long enough I rub Vaseline on his comb and wattles.
