Hi All,
New to the forum and soon to be new chicky momma. We had some laying chickens when I was a kid, but that was 25 years ago, so I'm a bit rusty, but been researching everything. Anyway, I just ordered 9 Red Stars and 6 Buff Orpingtons from Murray McMurray, and they offered the vaccinations for Marrek's and Coccidiosis, so I thought why not, and went ahead to get them vaccinated. Wondering if this was a wise thing to do or not? I haven't seen much on it, other than people saying their chicks got cocci, so did I do the right thing having them vaccinated or not? I plan to sell eggs to people I know around my town, but I don't plan to call them "organic" or anything of that nature. I also wasn't planning to give them medicated feed, so I thought the vaccination for cocci was a good idea. Any thoughts from people more experienced? Does the cocci vaccine really prevent the disease?
