I just purchased some fertilized eggs I want my broody to hatch. I drove about 30 minutes home from where I purchased them. Should I put them under my broody now or wait?

do they need to stabilize after the car ride?

Put them under the hen ASAP some hens give up their Broodiness or loose it if the eggs they're sitting on aren't hatching or if they don't have any, good luck

Dang Im at work already. The guy I bought them from said they need to rest with the pointy end down for 8 hours to settle after a car ride.

Either way I will put them under her tonight when I get home. She's on golf balls now.

I read somewhere that broodies dont have a 'clock' but after a couple of days can hear/feel development in the eggs.

So my hen, Layla has been an excellent broody except she never leaves her nest. I know some people say they dont need to but I dont want to risk anything. 2 days ago i pulled her off then again today. Its been unusually hot here in San Diego and I wanted to make sure she is drinking.

Do you watch her 24 hours a day? Broodies tend to be sneaky when they get off the nest because they don't like anyone or anything to know where their nest is. They also don't leave the nest for long. Maybe 10-15 minutes at most. Chickens have been hatching eggs since the dawn of time without human intervention. If they weren't capable of taking care of themselves while on the nest, they'd be long extinct by now. If you're concerned about her drinking, can you move water closer to her nest? I wouldn't put it where she can drink without getting off the nest, though. I'd just put it close by where she can see it. And has to get off the nest to drink.

She's in a rabbit hutch within an enclosed run. She has water and food in the hitxh where she would have to move to get to it. They are both in measured containers so I could tell if she was eating or drinking.
