Just put my 2 1/2 week old Pekins on shavings

and they seem to be eating it. is it going to hurt them?

no it shouldn't hurt them. I have raised about 20 ducks on them now and they have all tried to eat some of it, but it does not hurt them. Most of the time it seems like they just like to roll it around in their mouth in the water, they may eat some of it but not enough to hurt them. Best of luck with raising the little ones

They will nibble on ANYTHING! They are very inquisitive by nature- but after raising 100's of babies over the last few years on shavings- I havent had one get impacted or have issues from actualy swallowing any of them. Most of the particles they pick up will be too big for them to swallow- and the smallest bits will pass straight through them if they are swallowed.

thank you thank you thank you!!!! i am a newbie with the ducklings this year. I have always done the chicks. My little Huey, Duey and Louise are all new to me!!!!!

My ducklings nibble the shavings too and the straw in their nest box and everything else they can see!
