I really prefer to brood the ducks away from the chicks. Ducks are so wet and messy, and they use up the water so fast!
I usally brood ducks and chicks seprated but my other brooder is taken by my other chicks so this will be fine as long as I take an eye on them. Their not weting the chicks so this will be fine for now than once the other chicks get out and go outside ill separate them.

I would suggest putting the waterer inside a ‘tray’ or container so the water stays out of the wood chips for the most part. I’ve never had ducklings and chicks together, but I know cleaning out soggy wood chips is no fun at all.
Thank you I plan on doing so im switching the waterer. I usally use the tray water systems with my ducks I wanted t try something diffrent tho but ill switch back. To see how the regular waterer would do. Beacuse the tray water is alot work when cleaning so I wanted to use the regular waterer. Bedding usally egt stuck and I have to remove part by part.
