Hi, I am a chicken momma wanna be. I'm not a new member, but I have been quiet for few years. Unfortunately I live in a city that has banned chickens, but it does not keep me from dreaming. I design chicken coops and garden layouts with chicken coops and make plans on what chickens to get... and then wake up to reality. I am desperate to move to somewhere where I can live my life the way I want, but this might not unfortunately be in a near future. Sometimes I wonder if it is possible to keep them indoors. I remember going to a flower shop in Helsinki Finland, where they had tiny rooster living and greeting all the customers. But I would think that is a bit unusual. Either way, looking forward to reading stories and information about chickens, I will be chicken pro by the time I can have some.

People DO keep chickens as house pets. Please check out "People with house chickens."
My friend has been doing so for nearly 30 years. Generally bantam(small size) chickens do best. Make sure you get a female, so the neighbors won't hear any crowing.

So I assume if you have a chicken ban, that might include also the house chickens? I did not even think about that, but that definitely is something my husband does not want me to think about... but too late for that.

Oh how frustrating I really shouldn’t say this but... would anyone know if you kept a couple of hens in your garden? Would your neighbors be likely to report you? I don’t know anything about American laws really as I’m in Uk. Anyway, I hope you achieve your dream and
