I haven't been on BYC in a while, do to a new career keeping me busy. I just wanted to say HI to all my old BYC buddy's, & let folks know I haven't been ignoring there Emails requesting eggs from my flocks. I do still have all of my birds + a few new breeds of some really nice SQ birds. I'm sure by spring I'll have more eggs up for auction. Lately I've have a hard time collecting them before the cold weather chills them. This is one of the longest, coldest NY winter that I can remember. I haven't seen snow banks this high sense I was a kid.(It could just be that I was smaller then & everything seemed bigger) From what Iv'e seen on the news, the whole nation is getting a bit more winter weather than normal.
I've been supplying my birds with plenty of extra calories. In addition to there custom blended non medicated fresh ground feed that I get at my local grain mill, made of 1/3 Medium Cracked Corn, 1/3- 26% protein layer, & 1/3 26% protein Stock feed. The Stock has molasses with a mix of 7 grains.(Believe it or not the 3 bags @ 150# is only $25.50) I've been adding vitamin supplement to my birds water,+ giving them about 30 pounds of fresh vegetables, cooked rice, pasta, & bread scraps every week.(Working in a kitchen has perks)
I'm looking forward to having the time to start hatching again & to venture to the tailgate sales again. Thanks every one for all the emails & Sorry if I didn't get to every one individually yet.... By the way, if anyone near me has English Budgies for sale please contact me. I'm going to post an add in the wanted section as well..... Thanks,Chris

Welcome back

Hi Peeps! Can you post pics of your Dark Brahmas? They are hard to find and I would like to broaden my gene pool. Mine have too much foot feathering, so if yours have noticeable feathers on their middle toes, they won't help me. I also need help with better penciling. I have a nice roo over two PQ hens. Sure could use some help in my flock! LOL

on the spot: I think what you are referring to is my Bantam Silver Penciled Plymouth Rocks. I don't like to sell eggs this time of year. It's way to cold in NY. Even with a heat light in the coop, there's a good change of the egg chilling to the point of forming ice crystals inside the egg. If not it would probably happen in transit. After I'm able to get a good hatch under a broody I'll post eggs again....
