Just to be clear...sugar water vs. gro-gel

I ordered gro-gel with my chick order. Do I still need to put sugar in their water or just offer them a side dish of gro-gel for the first few days. Doesn't the gro-gel basically do the same thing as the sugar water?

One or the other. Really it's just to give them a boost for the first day. Both probably wouldn't be a problem. I don't do either, not even for my recent shipped batch.

If you give them sugar water stop after the first day. It can cause pasty butt.

Gro-gel used to be just a green food dye but now they are adding vitamins to it.

The chicks would be better served if you got a package of the quik chik drink powder which is high in vitamins and minerals. Think of it like a gatorade for chicks. After a day or two using it you can put the pouch away and have it on hand if you ever needed a quick vit boost for your chicks/chickens.
