Welcome! We are in North Texas also, just southeast of Dallas. We got our first chicks about 3 weeks ago, and are learning as we go. We got Red Star's for egg production and Black Australorp's for dual purpose (meat and eggs). It's our first time raising chickens, so we'll see how those work out. We are eager to try different breeds for different purposes. I think you will enjoy your chickens, we sure are!
