Hi
We put 6 silkie eggs in the incubator this will be are 4th time incubating and i have forgotten what humidity the incubator should be on , so just wanted to double check ! also i was reading through the form rooms and saw about not canderling to much , does this matter
Finally what day is best to see if they are fertile or not ?
Thank you

I incubate at lower humidity than most 10-25 %. Hatch bump up to over 50% for hatching. There is research out there to show that 0 % humidity during incubation works, but never done that. I used to candle eggs way too often. I have to thoughts about this 1) it does throw off incubation temps, which is actually no biggie--- despite what all say, the hen does get off the egg during the day and 2) I think it builds up too much anticipation behind the hatch. Like waiting for the mail, Checking out the window every 60 seconds doesn't make the mail come any faster, so candling eggs won't make them develop better or come any quicker. I believe after day 7 is generally the best. There are some that will just be plain clear.. you know these are duds. Some are iffy so I give these another 3-5 days.
