Hello from Washoe Valley Nevada! We just started our own little flock :D Love this addiction!
1000

1000

1000

Coop was bought, and then Heavily modified as we purchased a total dud, from a company that never sent(as they promised) replacement pieces that were damaged and broken or just missing. :he started off on the wrong foot for sure.
But then we got our pullets and a Roo, and a couple baby chicks too... and it was so worth it. CANT WAIT FOR EGGS!:weee

Nice coop and run! Lots of folks on BYC mentioned having to really retrofit and reinforce the coops they ordered, but your end result looks great! Good looking chickens too. Yes...and now you wait...and wait....for eggs! It won't be long but it'll seem like an eternity. Good luck with your flock.

Buying a coop rarely is ideal from what others have posted. They're too small, too flimsy, etc. And they aren't cheap either, lol.

Yours looks great, I'm glad you were able to fix it up to work for you. You have some lovely ladies!

Thanks for joining us!

Thanks everyone! There are more modifications to come, as the roof of the run needs some clear plastic panels to help keep it clean and dry. We also are going to add to the entire back side of the run, a panel of solar screen, over the Hardware cloth. That should help give them extra shade from the afternoon sun during the summer, as well as cut down on wind, rain, and snow from that side during the winter, giving them a nice dry, warmer run in the winter. Yet still have plenty of ventilation. Fingers crossed that works as well as I want it to Lol :yiipchick
Definately will not buy another prefab coop in the future. Next time we will build one ourselves. But with a completely added on new roof, some insulating strips around the coop acess door, and nest box lid, and lots of clear stain on the entire outside. It should hopefully get some good use for a few years.
