I just wanted to say thanks to all on this board.

I've been reading all of the post regarding injured chickens, put together a small basic chicken first aid kit.....

I had a feeling that is was the neighbor's brown lab (that I used to like) that got Lady a few months ago.....

Well now I know it was that dog!!!!

It managed to get into the pen this morning... my oldest saw it with on of my 8 week old girls... Got me nd I go running barefoot like a demented banshee into the pen where the dog has my girl between it's paws. I grabbed my bird and ran!!! The other birds were in the coop safe.

I checked "nugget" over and no major damage.. Lost a lot of feathers a few light scratches no puctures.... Got the saline solution, cleaned her up and put neosorin on her. Put her in a dark cage to relax as I've seen mentioned here.

She's back in the coop and happy...

A chicken first aid kit - what a great idea. Would you please list the contents?

There's a long list somewhere. I have a very basic set can also be used on kids....

All I have right now is:

Old tackle box my boys don't use anymore
Neosporin, not pain killer type
Single use syringes with saline solution (leftover from mom's at home IV line)
2 rolls guaze different sizes
sissors
aspirin
alcohol wipes, individual packages (also leftover from mom)

You have to keep the kit inside a house if you have the syringes with saline. The attending nurse let me know that temp extremes can cause the saline to go rancid. But she liked the idea and like the chickens....

I've got to get the electrolytes and vitamins for the chicks.... part of the to do list.

What about the dog. Is the neighbor going to do the right thing and keep it in its own yard?

I said something to the guy the last time I caught the dog in the yard especially about Lady being killed by a dog.....

Unfortunately he's an old friend of my Dad.

But Dad called him this time and was a bit.. ummm... annoyed!

The neighbor was down fast this time!

As of right now the whole family has thoughts S.S.S.
