Just woke up to fox in garden 😥

So its like i knew my dog didnt even bark but its nearly 2am and i jus woke up randomly went to look out window there was a fox lurking around my coop and run. Luckily chickens and babies shut in coop at nite but my quail are out in run it cant be dug under but first time seeing one in the garden my husband shot nr it to scare it but now im wide awake to paranoid to go back to sleep im.in UK anyone else been like tht? Cant believe my dog didnt stir til we got up

I would shoot at it to kill it. I have a grudge with foxes. It sounds like you have a good secure run. That's the best protection. I learned the hard way.

If your coop and runs are predator proof, that's great, and your neighborhood fox won't get a meal at your place. Sometimes foxes do hunt during the day, so having the birds in will be best, at least for now.
Setting up a game camera will be interesting, and electric fencing or electrified poultry netting work wekk to keep out ground predators, if you can use it there.

Hi if im around they usually free range in day but as u said bit uneasy getting to that time year they more desperate for food thanks for your reply xx

I lost a bunch during the day to foxes when I used to free range. The only one I killed was 30 feet from my house while I was home.
