Both Sexes Look Very Much Like Bob Whites When Young--- So The Jury's Still Out On Your Question--- Hope It Pans Out For You Tho--- 1st Thing You'll Notice Should Be The Top Knot--- 2 Long Feathers That Can Be Raised Or Lowered At Will. Then If You Have Bobs To Compare To You'll Start To See The Valleys Taking On A More Blue Grey Color Than The Bobs....
 
I have one that is 100% valley, no doubt. They are at least two months old and the others just look like bobs, no top knots. If anything, they look more brown now than they did earlier on, and I think I can even tell one is a roo. The guy I got them from is local and I am sure he will take care of it.
