My daugher's school is having their annual Science Expo and this year will have a "Creature Corner" Kids can bring their pets, in cages to display in the Art Room for the day.

I'm considering letting her take a couple of Silkies.

Anyone have reason to believe this is a bad idea?

Are they used to human interaction? If they won't mind being poked at and loud noises and have food and water available then it might be alright. My biggest concern would be some kid that already has chickens at home getting excited to see another chicken, want to pet it and didn't wash his/her hands before coming to school and now your chickens have some illness that he/she's brought from their flock.
