I would go with what's best for the chicks. (Crumble)

Brand doesn't matter to me.

I have used Nutrena Crumble and love it. I add garlic, red pepper, Italian seasoning, rosemary, dried peas and lentils, plus oats for the bigger girls, my silkies get that also along with dried fly larvae, shrimp, grasshopper and/or crickets for the extra protein. I grind the crumbles(Nutrena Starter) for baby silkie chicks, easier for them to eat. Could use the Kalmbach as a mixer with Nutrena. Everybody has their own likes and dislikes, even chickens!!

Very true...I wasn't meaning to say crumble is best. Just my adults and chicks prefer it over pellets. In my opinion, it's easier to digest for the little ones so I feel it's better in that respect.
