Hello! Just got the weather alert confirming the arctic air will be here as early as tomorrow, lows way below 0 and highs at 0 or single digits... Is there anything I need to do to make sure my 9 chickens do okay? They are 7 mths old, 6 hens, 3 roos (trying to rehome 2 ) they will be fine to stay cooped but not thru Tuesday! I do have a light on a timer for lating purposes, would that be worth keeping on all night?

Thanks for your help, and if you need a buff roo or two I’m your go-to!!

As long as they have feathers they will be fine be better not to leave a light on all the time they need dark to sleep too, How big is your coop? mine stay in if bad weather but have 17 square ft diameter coop

At seven months they should be OK assuming they are in good feather and good weight. Keep direct wind off them and make sure they can drink water at least once a day.

Younger birds despite having feathers are not at tough. Mine do not seem to hit their age of maximum tolerance to cold until sometime after 5 months.
