This morning hubby told me that Kasper refused to get out of their house and that he was guarding it with his life. I thought it was possible that her eggs had hatched. So off we go to battle the beasts to see if she has new babies. When we get out to their pen, this is what we encountered.....
Kasper was on alert and ready to battle for his life!! I thought I could hear some peeping but with both Kasper & Karessa honking, then the other geese joining in, the roosters all over the barnyard thinking its a game and they join the malay, and of course it wouldn't be complete without the ducks joining in, I couldn't be sure.
Kasper charges hubby...good he's out of the house! Karessa comes out not so willingly and hubby finds a broken egg and panics. I could still hear that baby but it sounded muffled. And the other egg is still there. Hubby looks all over and can't find the baby. I can hear it, he can hear it. He tears the nest apart trying to find it. Its cries are getting more panicked and now I'm on my hands and knees encouraging hubby to find it. No baby. Karessa & Kasper are freaking out, I'm freaking out and baby is crying.
It sounds like the baby is UNDER the house. But how?? There's no breaks in the inside of the house. Hubby starts reaching under the house and sure enough, that's where the baby was. Hubby pulls him out...safe and sound. That must be why Kasper was guarding the way he was with his head out of the doorway the way it was.
So hubby hands me the baby, I inspect it, its a little boy!! I give him some water, which he drinks heartily. Hubby fixes their house back up and fixes it so little boy can't go back under the house, makes a ramp so he can go up it with mama and papa and we put little boy back in. Karessa and Kasper go back in with their little one.
All is good in the world.......
