Is there anyone out there that have either one of these livestock..
"Katahdin Sheep" or "Mini Zebu Cattle".
I have been reading up about them and want some of other peoples output.
Could anyone give me some assistants?

I don't keep either, but I have read a lot of on them also.

Katahdins are a hair sheep, so they are still hardy and good tasting but also don't need sheared and are more parasite resistant then woolled sheep. They are great grazers.

Mini Zebu are adorable, great pets, and come in a variety of colors. However, being zebu, they are adapted for warm climates and may not thrive in very cold or wet areas.

Best of luck finding the cattle and sheep you want!

I have one pure Katahdin and one half breed. My katahdins are low maintenance. The little on is friendly and has adapted well to a mixed herd. No problem with pests so far. My lamb is HUGE. At two months, he was the size of another one year old we had. We were fairly certain mom had twins, but it was just one big old boy. We don't eat ours so no clue what the meat quality is like.

I should note that while horns are undesirable and bred out of Katahdins, its still possible to get horned lambs. We let Shawn's grow natural, but he is now either shedding them or knocking them off. Has lost each horn once (both hollow when shed) and smaller horns were underneath.

Thank you to Raineys Family.
I didn't know about their horns that is good to know
Your input has made me feel that I have made a good decision on planning on getting this breed.
Thanks again,
Nancy From Florida soon to move to South Carolina to raise livestock :)

Thanks to the Gitabooks. I must keep all your good information.
