They will do great together! I have tiny bantams with standard sized chickens. The little bantam will most likely try to breed with your big hens and he may succeed.I was thinking in the future about getting some serama hens and a rooster. Will they be ok free ranging with the larger birds but have their own coop??? Will the big hens attack the little rooster?
You will need to build a WAY bigger coop! Your current coop is extremely to small anyway.I was thinking in the future about getting some serama hens and a rooster. Will they be ok free ranging with the larger birds but have their own coop??? Will the big hens attack the little rooster?
That’s what you may think…. The chickens have other ideas. They like being cozy!
I have a bantam rooster and some hens and I introduce him to my hens and he did the mating dance but my hen felt uncomfortable and stressed then shortly after she followed him and they were fighting but I separated them because he is around 1/3 smaller than my standard RIR, should I have done that? For next time what do I do if there is some blood drawn because the hen poked the rooster in the red thing that hangs on its chin and it was bleeding a little. I separated them in separate coops and put them back after 2 hours and watched them from afar and they were eating together at the same time and roaming but from afar(2 yards away from each other) and if I get them get close to each other they run the opposite way. So I don’t know if this is normal this is my first time introducing other chickens to the flock (ps: these are the first roosters they’ve seen since hatch)They will do great together! They’ll probably fight a little in the beginning to find their pecking order.
I have a bantam rooster he is very sweet and some hens and I introduced him to my hens and he did the mating dance but my hen felt uncomfortable and stressed (was making low to high pitched sounds) then shortly after she followed him and they were fighting but I separated them because he is around 1/2-2/3 smaller than my standard RIR’s, should I have done that? For next time what do I do if there is some blood drawn because the hen poked the rooster in the red thing that hangs on its chin and it was bleeding a little. I separated them in separate coops and put them back after 2 hours and watched them from afar and they were eating together at the same time and roaming but from afar(2 yards away from each other) and if I get them get close to each other they run the opposite way. I really don’t like/want them fighting so I put my rooster in my run and my hen outside where the fence is. So I don’t know if this is normal this is my first time introducing other chickens to the flock (ps: they are used to being the only chickens(sorry for spell error was in a rush))They will do great together!
