keeping chickens off the deck

my hens have discovered the bird feeders near my deck and they now keep coming on the deck during their daily travels around the yard. yesterday was my last straw, i camne home from work and they were there again, and this time there was poop all over the deck. what can i do to prevent them from doing this? i know if i remove the food source ie bird feeder they would probably stop, but my girlfriend likes the wild birds. any help would be great, thanks jim

I have the same problem but it is not because of bird feeders, they just like to come up and stare in the sliding glass door. As a result their is chicken poop everywhere and a ton of flies which LOVE chicken poop.
I put a baby gate at the top of the stairs to keep them off and it only works when I remember to put it up! Those chickens would follow me in the house if they could.

I enjoy watching mine on the deck. They peep in the windows looking for treats.I just hose off the deck and the poops all gone.
