Hi all,
Is it possible to have a pen just for drakes separate from the females permanently? Right now I have 2 drakes, a welsh and khaki, and I have a male welsh/rouen mix that hatched last week that will eventually join the male flock. Then i have 10 females. I've seen people that house their drakes and hens separately at night but haven't seen as much of the separate pens and was wondering if it would work. My welsh is a horny little booger and is getting his favorites but is becoming more aggressive and territorial with them. I'm not home all day so I can't babysit them in the pen together. I have posts in the ground for a 10'x10' pen about 30 feet from the female pen.
Does anyone have experience with keeping a small drake flock separate from female flocks?
And would it still be okay if they roam the yard together when I let them all out or will they be even more aggressive since they are separate from the girls all the time?
