Hello,
I have a small flock of chickens with 8 hens and a rooster. We are contemplating adding guineas. I am wondering if I can just add them to my flock with my rooster. Orrrrr if this is just a bad idea. Please help

Read the thread Raising Guinea Fowl 101 and pay close attention to posts by @PeepsCA.

I don't recommend adding guineas to a flock of chickens.

Guineas are a flock bird that do best in large groups. No, chickens do not count as part of a large group. Guineas have entirely different mannerisms from other fowl. Especially during breeding season those habits can cause extreme stress to other poultry.

Guineas aren't for everyone but if you really want guinea fowl, I recommend brooding, raising and housing them separately from your chickens. I don't recommend having fewer than 10. The ideal cock to hen ratio is 1:1. They do tend to pair up.
