We currently have a 5 gallon waterer, a 1 gallon waterer, a kiddie pool(for the duck), and a misting system.
Is there anything else we could add to keep them cooler?

Number of birds we have: 9 hens, 5 young ones, 4 baby chicks, and a duck. Our male duck is currently indoors due to an injury.

Shade....do they have shade? If not get some shade cloth and consider planting shade providing plants....vines, trees, etc.

Hi! This is my first year chickening. I have 3 barred rocks and we've been dealing with the midwest heat ourselves. I've been trying out a few things that seem to have helped, though I'm still new to this.

I've been putting different veggies in the freezer and giving them to them. They love frozen strawberries and lettuces. Also set out an old ice cream container that we freeze overnight. They love peck at it as it melts. Froze some seed treats in ice cubes and let them play with those. Replace their water daily and keep their sand/dirt bath covered when it is direct sun and open it in the afternoon so they have cool sand to bathe in. While my girls like to stand in rain, they do not like the sprinkler. Goobers. Shade is the biggest thing, they like to stay in the covered part of the run and under the coop itself. I think it has been working well. Even on in 80 to nearly 90 degree weather I've been able to keep them from panting (mostly).
