Keeping track of chickens?!?!?!?

For those of you with a lot of chickens, different breeds, different ages...How do you keep track of how old your birds are?
Do you have a tracking log or something?

Just one of those questions I think about when I get bored...Sitting at home with a really bad cold!!!!

I have about 30 birds. I know them all by name but, they also all wear leg bands with numbers....

Ahhh, leg bands...Thats the stuff I was wondering about. Where does a person get leg bands and tool, if necessary, to put them on.

No prob....I ordered them from this place online. You have to order the tool also. Its like an xtra $20 bucks but totally worth it. I tried to skimp and do it with out it.....oh boy not a good idea..... the name of the place is Ketchum....www.ketchummfg.com

I used zip ties when the birds were little, but they grow so fast. When they were a couple if months old I switched to the plastic spiral leg bands. Below is the place I bought them. They have different types of leg bands.

I want to band too. Mainly to track age. I wondered if the farm stores carried them. Could I really use up 100 leg bands in short time. It seems like that is the quantity. May need to check again.
