Keeping wasps out of soffit ventilation

We have a big wasp problem out here. We will be ordering wasp traps soon but I am curious if anyone has had success keeping wasps out of the hardware cloth soffits. We have 1/2" welded hardware cloth we will be using. But I thought about layering window screen on top of that because the wasps can't get through that. Thoughts?
