Does anyone have experience with Key West's wild chickens? I had heard you could adopt them, so I emailed the wildlife center down there to ask. I'm just curious if anyone has adopted any of these gorgeous birds

In case anyone stumbles across this in the future, I did recieve an e-mail from the folks that handle the rescuing of the Gypsy chickens. They are more than happy for you to adopt the chickens! Unfortunately, they do not ship. So you either have to go to the Lake Okeechobee preserve, or the Key West preserve and pick them up. Quite a road trip! I don't foresee myself getting any wild Key West chickens in the near future. Bummer.

Look at post #9 on this thread. It will take you to an article and then scroll down to the email address at the end of the article. Last I knew she was still in the rescue business with the key west chickens. She may still sell hatching eggs from time to time as well. You will have to email her to find out for sure. She is near Deland, FL.
