My 12 month old KC drake seems to be going thru a phase. He has lost his 2 little black curls over his tail feathers and has also lost the green sheen on his head. What is this about?

Also, can a ducklings gender be detected by the why his quacking sounds? Age 6 weeks now. thanks

I think that's called the eclipse phase - sounds normal to me.

You may be able to hear the ducking voice cracking into a quack or honk at 6 weeks, and that would be female. Otherwise either it's a little early, or you could have a drakeling.
