I know this is a huge long shot but does anyone know how I can tell my drakes from hens?? They won't let me get close enough to them to really stare...

Mine took longer to really develop differences, but look for dark heads and curly tails. But it looks like the two behind the first are drakes and the second to last is also male.

Thank you! I'll be so sad if I end up with 3 boys and need to rehome 2 :(

I did so I didn't expect to get all females but I worry that 3 males would be too many and they'd fight?

I’m new to ducks also and like you, my husband and daughter picked up straight run from TSC. I figure straight runs will probably favor a higher male percentage.

To correct the probable high male to female ratio, I ended up ordering sexed hens from a local breeder. I believe I read that the usual male to female ratio is somewhere between 3-5ish hens per drake, but it does vary by breed.

You could embrace duck math and add more hens! It’s what I decided to do! 😂

Lol sadly I don't have more space for my ducks but maybe they'll just pair up and there won't be any issues!
