I have recently got 2 khaki campbells and im hoping they r girls. Im told they are about 8-9 weeks old. Iv heard a little quack from 1. ( i think its jus 1 of them) the other barely makes a noise. Should i be able to tell by now. Im brand new to having any pets.
Any advice about the breed would be appreciated

Hi and Welcome to BYC :welcome unfortunately, you'll probably need to wait a few more weeks to tell.:caf

Ok. I have seen a couple posts about bill and bean colour. Is that very effective when trying to tell between drake or duck

Yes it is... Generally speaking. My Rouen's beaks were an early indication--but some of them didn't get their collars until 24 weeks. I've got 14 week old birds in the pasture right now that I thought were all hens--but it looks like one may be starting to grow a collar.

I've heard females quack and are quite talkative while male ducks has a raspy sound.
You can also post on the "duck thread," for more information. Welcome to BYC

I have my ducks in a completely enclosed pen wiv a hutch inside. Should i lockbthem in the hutch at night or let them go in and out as they please 24/7?
