Hi everyone. I just hatched some khaki ducklings but one is having some major issues.
After i noticed a lot of bruising on june 28th i thought it had perished but then it pipped the wrong end. I left it like that for a couple days but after 48 hours i attempted an assist following the guidlines on that website everyone here puts a link to. But im still concerned cause now another day has gone by and no progress. The yolk still seems like its not obsorbing at all. It still has an unobsorbed yolk sac on day 29. It externally pipped at 10am on June 4th after I noticed a lot of bruising on June 28th
We are going on many hours/days since the external pip. There was no internal pip because it is backwards in the egg so I thought, ok more time. But at about 50 hours I exposed a small bit of the air sac area and seen the yolk. It's been 60 hours and still the yolk is the same. I don't think she's able to obsorb it and my question is. How do I assist further. I am afraid to slowly open her up because she is on the veiny side of the egg. I can't clearly see if she has her foot over her head but she's not shrink wrapped...however that exposed membrain around her hole I did open a little and now it's hardened. I put coconut oil on it and watch her closely but she just keeps trying to pip it looks like.
Anyway, any help is greatly appreciated. I see tiny little red veins at the yolk section that are red and know she needs her yolk or she is likely doomed. But how many hours before she perishes if I leave her like this? Anything I can do to help her? I can't see how she would have much longer to survive like this.
Any help is greatly appreciated
