My geese are on their second year using a large purple plastic kiddie pool (the kind you can't really dump easily). Two days ago I noticed something bluish in the goose poop. I looked about for the stray plastic bag or whatever they could have gotten into and couldn't find anything. Then I noticed little pieces of plastic floating in their pool.

The liner is starting to come off! I think the liner is only on the pool as a decoration (lovely purple octopus and other fantasy sea creatures).

I emptied the pool and found the thin colored liner is starting to separate all over the pool. It's not that the geese are biting the pool and removing it - it is just coming off.

I tried to pull it off but where it is not coming loose it is still tightly attached.

Has anyone had this happen in their kiddie pool and if so do you have a secret for removing the liner?

Thanks!

Havent' had one for that long. Looks like its time to spend another $5-10

I don't mind buying another one but with the hot weather i don't think I can find another one! Plus I just got the self installed drain to quit leaking.

I know what you mean about not having one for long. All my others have cracked in just a few months. I think this one has lasted longer because it is too big to try and dump.

I think I'll try silverfox0786 great suggestion and get out the sandpaper. The things we do for these birds.

We are on our third year with our kiddie pool and no issues. I really thought we would have had to replace it by now. We have a drain system on ours, and it is in the ground like an inground pool. It is the blue WalMart kind, it does have a design on it, but it is still all there.

We have had two very harsh summers with temps over 100 degrees and winters where the water in the pool freezes most of the winter.

Our kiddie pool is starting to peel also.We just bought it this spring. I wish kiddie pools were only $5-$10 around here! Ours cost us $24 !

Yikes!
I'm going to see if I can get another one on clearance soon. The first time I bought one, in Florida, I got it on clearance at Toys r us in November.

I think we own the same pool, ours is purple with some sea creatures.. i have noticed the design wearing down but nothing floats about in the pool, of coarse it's changed so often it's probably just washing away after i scrub it.

Ours are pricey here as well, i know i paid over 20$ for it..they are rather hard to fine nowadays too, most of the places sell those inflatable types, which we have for ourselves but would never work for birds.

If the pool is starting to come apart, it is time to throw it away.

I find those kiddie pools too hard to clean, so my ducks and geese have cement mixing tubs (about $12) which they love. I also have a 100 gallon galvanized stock tank for the geese, set up with a drain system that has a turn valve.

Their favorite is a rubber feed pan that is only big enough for one goose at a time. That's the one that gets all the water splashed out first.
