If you want to do this an easy way is to get a length of 1x8 or 1x10-- 6 feet long at Home Depot and buy a hinge also.... Cut the board in half and hinge it where one joins the other.. You will place it half in and half out of the pool...Then you only need to put something on the ladder you have made to make it easy for the chickens to walk up and down. You can get interior trim from HD called 1 1/4 door stop... Easy to cut this in pieces 7 1/4 long if you have 1x8 or 9 1/4 long if you bought the 1x10....Cut about 10 of them and put them on the 1x8 or 1x10 about 6 inches apart. Easy traction for the birds....... Don't have the water too deep...
I don't think chickens would want to go in a pool. There are lots of good threads with tips on how to help keep chickens cool during the summer heat. Chickens do live thru hot summers, always have.
Well, it depends, actually. I have been using a similar pool for my chickens, and in the beginning, I couldn't make them get into the pool until one of them had done it all alone. After that, all my chickens started to get into that pool constantly, almost every day. After seeing the chickens going for a swim almost every day, even my kids asked me to get them a pool. The most absurd thing is that I built the pool in the backyard, where we don't have any sun. Just think about it, living in Texas and getting some swimming pool heat pump systems to keep the water warm. Yeah, I'm stupid.I don't think it's possible to get them there.
