Killed by hawk

One of my little flock of 5 (Brownie, a Khaki Campbell) was killed by a hawk today right next to my house and right outside their pen. A HUGE new hawk in the neighborhood who arrived a few days ago. I am heartbroken and so sad I did not watch them more closely.

I did get to her before she died and chased the hawk away but she was beyond saving. I took her to the other ducks so she could hear and see them as she passed a short time later. Feeling very sad.

Don't beat yourself up about it. Predator attacks are fast and can happen when you leave for just a moment, or even if you are right outside with them. So sorry for your loss.

Sad for you and Brownie. We all worry about predators. Is there anyway you could get a shade cloth to cover the open area where you ducks are, so that the hawk cannot see your ducks if it returns?

Don’t be to hard on yourself I have heard members say hawks have hit with them right there
Trying yo fiver areas that you can msg prevent future hits
That hawk will be back is there a way you can keep them in a safe place for a week or two ?
