killing barn yard mix rooster to put in freezer

Main thing here is to rest the cleaned carcass in the fridge for about 3-4 days,
otherwise the meat may be tough as hell no matter how you cook it.
It will taste nothing like a CX or grocery bird...much stronger flavor that might take some getting used to.

I have never don’t this for meat but just for egg production! I told my husband my New Years resolution is that I want to be able to slaughter the extra roosters we have! Lol

I have a silkie and a game hen that just wants to be momma’s so I have 2 main roosters and 12 baby’s and my silkie “bob ross” is sitting on 9 more eggs!
all barn yard mixes. Would it be better to slaughter the Young ones as soon as I know they are Roos
 
You can eat them at any size, but you probably want to let them get big enough to be worth the effort if you've got the space for it.

I've only done it once myself, but I let the packing peanuts get to the point that they'd started to crow. They were still a bit scrawny, but tasty.
