Hi all, i started incubating king quail and coturnix quail eggs on 30 July 2023 11pm and on 2 Aug 2023 11pm, when I candled a few I can see the veins (see pic below). But on 3rd Aug 11pm when I candle them they are too dark to see through, they all seem to be a dark cooked circle... did something happen and killed them?

Hello, i tried to take a pic but its hard to capture it... my phone was quite hot when I used the torch function, did i killed them?? 😱View attachment 3598174
To me it looks like development (if it was older).
It might be cloudy (like in snake eggs, no clue if that applies to quail or birds in general)

Do all of the eggs look like this?

That looks like a healthy egg filled with developing chick. What you're seeing down at the fat end is the air cell.

Hello. I am raising quails like, Chinese Painted, Bobwhite and Coturnix. Usually, when the chick inside of the egg is older and about days to be hatched, when you candle them, they look like that.Chinese Painted hatched around 15th day, Bobwhite around 23rd and Coturnix, 18th day.
