Hi,

I am new to the whole chicken raising adventure, and I have a question regarding kitchen scraps. I have read a LOT about what they can and cannot eat, however nothing tells me how old the little ones need to be before they can enjoy some fresh stuff from the kitchen. Can someone tell me? Thanks a bunch! Have a happy day!

I gave only boiled eggs for the first few weeks, you don't need grit with it. After 3-4 weeks I started with some bugs (and grit). After about 5 weeks I gave some chopped veggies/fruit etc. Now at 7 weeks I give cantalope quartered and stuff like that. This worked for me and kept them happy. I also give them a box of sand/soil with the chopped stuff and crumbles mixed up in it. It keeps them happy scratching since their coop is almost finished but I am waiting on the floor to dry!

Thank you for the feedback! I want to make sure I am doing everything right by these little beautys! Cheep cheep!
