I have 2 barn cats one had 5 kittins 3 days ago and one had some this morning th some wasn’t taking care of them and gave birth to him in the middle of the yard in the rain. She wanted nothing to do if them and she is a first time mom. She had 6 4 are already dead. I gave them to the one who had kittins 3 days ago and she is taking care of them and letting them drink. Should I hold their mother and let them get colostrum or will they be fine with the older kittins. She has taken care of them all day and they are doing way better.

I think they'll be okay. Up the feed on the cat doing the mothering, and good luck. I've seen instances when the mothering instinct eventually kicks in. They may co-mother the kittens if they get along.

We once had 2 sister cats that used to do taht all the time ever time they had kittins they would keep them separated till the kittins were about 4 week old then they would move them out of hiding and mix them together masking one huge litter. The one is the mother of the adopting mother. It was always mix together by themselves. This time I am wondering if they will need colostrum. Their real mother wanted nothing to do with them. She also didn’t know what she was doing she had too piles of 3 kittins in the yard while it was raining and about 40 degrees F. The piles where about 1000 ft from each other. I knew the 3 that were alive best chance was with their grandma.
