I have only been able to find broiler feed around here, no luck finding gbf. Ive heard of people adding kitty food because of the protien..does this work? I have 15 english quail, and have been feeding them broiler starter...which I think is 22%. I just dont want to mess up on my first batch of quail. They are two weeks old.

Web Search For Purina Mills Feeds And Their Web Site Has A Dealer Locator Built In. Cat Food Is Not Appropriate Nutrition ( There's More To It Than Just Protien...) Also Cat Food Is Way More Expensive Than Gbs. As Pringle Pointed Out Turkey Starter Is A Suitable Substitute If Nothing Else...

two week old quail need game bird starter, they can also be fed turkey or chuckar starter. It has to be high protien. You can add ground ADULT cat food to poultry layer for quail that are 4 weeks old or older but not chicks. Adult cat food is high in protien (31%) so you can add it to layer feed to boost protien if you can't find high protien layer feed

Does broiler feed work for adults? Ill look for turkey starter...but im not sure if our purina dealer carries it.

So far they seem happy.

I don't use purina feeds you will pay too much for that fancy bag. look for an old time feed store mom and pop type places they can order any feed you want you might have to buy more than 1 bag but they can get it.

I have to agree. Don't over pay Purina for their nasty over priced feed in a fancy bag. Just feed your corturnix left over spaghetti, white bread, and iceberg lettuce! As long as you feed them oyster shell, they will lay like mad!!!

NOT!
