Knee or hip injury?

This afternoon, my daughter was helping put our 4 week old chicks back in the coop for the evening. She didnt see one underfoot and accidentally kicked her. The chick immediately fell to the side. Since this happened, she cant use her leg at all. We took a tube sock and cut it and slid it over her head to keep her leg tucked under her body. I didnt have a bandage around here at all and that was the best that I could find. When she is on her back without the sock, her left leg falls to the left side of her body and she cant lift it. She cant walk. She wouldnt eat or drink tonight either. I'm really worried about her and I'm new to this. My daughter has cried all evening because she hurt the chicken and she loves her so much. Can we save her? How can we make sure she heals as well as eats and drinks?

I had this happen to one of my d'uccles last year. We came home from vacation and she had hurt her leg and it wasn't working. She never regained use of it and was ok for a couple months until her other leg gave out too.

You can provide physical therapy to try and strengthen her other leg. Many chickens get along just fine with one leg. You might want to let her recover a little first though.
