Hey,
We are just planting some laburnums and have free range chickens, so, wondered if A: they would eat the seeds or if they have some kind of instinct against it and B: would it harm/kill them or is it different for birds...?
Any advice or opinions would be very welcome!
Thanks...
:]

Hi

I was about to post a message similar to yours but the other way round: we have a labernum but are thinking about getting chickens! Did you get any more info on this? Any advice greatly received

Regards

Jon

Hiya, forgot about it lately but I just came on to check this, so thought I'd have another look...
Googled it and it had this: ''If something makes them feel ill they quickly learn to stop eating it. (so long as it isn't so poisonous it kills them outright, but I've not come across anything like that yet.)We even have laburnum trees and the seeds go everywhere and are poisonous, they just know not to eat them. So don't worry too much about what you are giving them, they'll let you know if they don't like it.'' from: http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Talk:Raising_Chickens/Feeding
so, m not sure, but think we'll risk it as they absolutely hate being shut in their run! We already have laburnum plants but they won't flower for a bit yet, so shall see!
Get chickens! They're great... have fun and hope it goes well......
