Laid 1 egg on Sunday but...weird behavior?

She's not (Buff Orpington 29 weeks) technically in the nesting box. She's beside it and she's been in her own little nest she's created for herself from a hole she had dug.
A newly laying hen can't go broody, can they? After one egg? she doesn't trill, or fluff up her feathers when i stuck my hand under her.
Is this just new layer anxiousness and confusion?

Hopefully she isn't going broody after the first egg - she's also the sweetest of my ladies so far.

my other BO's aren't squatting but 1/4 of my EEs are just starting to do the squat.

x2, buff orps are a broody breed i have 2 cochin pullets within like 2 weeks of laying their first egg are already broody and hatching eggs

No. I just pushed her off and she just kinda looked confused. I did find an egg and it was fresh. So she must have just laid it minutes before as I was next door and heard a squawk.

my pullets sit on their newly laid egg for up to an hour efore getting off, id say if she doesnt get off and go to the roost with the rest of the flock and is still there in the morning she is broody. but she doesnt sound broody to me though

Thank you! She's quite sandy recently since she's decided the floor was the best place to lay and not in the box. We've also had all day rain again yesterday in Florida.
