I would like a few white egg layers and I have a few people who would like to buy a dozen white eggs for eating from time to time (most people want the brown but I have had a few ask about white farm fresh eggs too) I don't like leghorns, but Lakenvelder and campine chickens are so striking I would love some of them. The problem is I only have room for one of these breeds (breeder coop wise, anyway) So which should I pick? what breed is a better layer? Is one breed more calm or friendly then the other? I also really like black sumatra but I have kind of ruled them out unless someone wants to re talk me into them, lol.

I have lakenvelders and sumatra. Sumatra lay a white to light cream colored egg. Both breeds can be flighty, but if you mess with them they aint bad. My lakenvelders lay better than my sumatras do. Lakenvelders come in sliver (black and white) or golden (black and buff)

Do you have roosters in either breed? Are Lakenvelder roosters known for being aggressive w/ people? Are yours everyday layers, every other day, a few times a week, or less? How do they lay in hot weather?

I have a lakenvelder rooster in golden color and 2 in sliver. I have 2 dun sumatras and a black sumatra rooster. The sumatras are very laid back once I catch them, but when not in hand they will run away as these weren't messed with as chicks. My current lakenvelder roosters are fine around people, but I did have one that flipped out one day. He went from eating outta my hand to he would try to flog me through the fence as I walked by. I don't have him any more

. I have 3 lakenvelder hens of each color and most days I get 2 eggs, once or twice a week I get 3 or 1 eggs from each pen. My lakenvelders lay better in the heat than my sumatras and here in NC we get some hot humid weather in the summer.

as the Zottegem is seen as a subtype of the Brakel, a Brakel cross can possibly remind you of a Zottegem although the dinstinct barring in this chicken is nowhere to be seen.
and the black head clearly comes from the Lakenvelder.
