Lame chicken

Hi hopeing someone can help, I have a young chicken ( Sasso meat bird) which is having trouble walking. It spends most of its time sitting down with its feet out in front of it, but when it does move it seems to be losing it balance and falling over. Any thoughts on what it is and possible solutions would be much appreciated. Cheers

Have you checked it's legs for broken bones, etc.? Have you checked it's feet for possible bumblefoot? Hope everything works out!!

Marek's is a possibility. But first give B vitamins and see if that works. Keep watch on the others for the same symptoms.

Ok thanks. They are on a good brand of feed so should be getting all they need. But I'll have a look and see what I can find.

Sometimes they do get all they need for nutrition and need some help for some reason.
If it's a meat bird do you think he's heavy?

Well it is one of the bigger of the group. It's about 4 weeks old and weighs about 1.5lb, but some of the others are the same weight and don't seem to have a problem. Maybe it's just the way it is. It's still able to get around and feed etc so I'll keep an eye on it and see if it improves at all.

My heart just breaks for this little one! I'm sure someone else may have suggested this already, but have you tried taping her legs so she has a more upright positioning? Something akin to spraddle leg maybe??

Not quite sure what you mean? Do mean taping each leg individually or together so it can still walk but it's legs can't open so far?
